After a lifetime of dreaming of traveling the world, 78-year-old homebody Carl (voiced by Ed Asner) is lured into an unbelievable adventure, thanks in part to the persistence of Russell, an 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer (Jordan Nagai). Together, the unlikely pair embarks on a thrilling odyssey full of jungle beasts and rough terrain. Other voices include the renowned Christopher Plummer and Pixar stalwart John Ratzenberger.

This was one of the most inspiring films I have ever seen and the fact that it was animated and still held such realism is absolutely phenomenal. It held my attention all the while making me feel every emotion that poor Mr. Fredrickson was going through. It is so surreal and so captivating of raw human emotions and the human condition as well. Absolutely wonderful and I would recommend anyone with a real heart to watch it and grow with it. Fantastic!
why am i finding myself crying in the first 10 minutes of this movie. This movie is not really a kids movie. There are very deep mature aspects of the movie that children may not be able to understand.
Up had a lot more breadth than I expected. For one, I would not recommend this film to young children who have no concept of death or are not ready for such a mature topic. The film overall was well made and written. The graphics were phenomenal as always from Pixar and I especially enjoyed the "Fenton" reference.
If you are going to watch this movie with a young child, I suggest previewing it first before taking your kids there. Other than that, I thought this movie's concept was romantic and entertaining.
Pixar = good movies so of course this is good. Was it great? actually the beginning really was great and pulled on a few heartstrings but the movie did devolve once the attack dogs and nutty bird were introduced. Not really recommended for kids unless they are older than 9-10 or relatively brave due to a few scary scenes (those dogs again). Oh, and Steven F. totally cried the whole movie.
I enjoyed this movie more than Wall-E for its journey through human emotion - loss, grief, and rebirth. Social commentary is great and all, but this movie resonated with me on a much more personal level. And each time I was close to shedding a tear (emphasis on close), a silly character would appear or bizarre event would occur to bring me back to laughter.
The only things I'll say are...the first 15 minutes of the film made me love it; and...Russell annoyed me more than all the hobbits of Middle-Earth combined. Stupid fat Asian kid.
